About Right to Know Week

Since 2006, around the International Right to Know Day – 28th of September, for 7 days we educate the public on the right to information and we make analysis to asses it’s functioning.

Our actions during The Right to Know Week are the following:

  • encouraging to use the right to information by submitting a request to the administration – we encourage every person to take that action!;
  • training mixed groups of participants: local residents, administration and media representatives;
  • writing articles about the subject and publishing them on the website www.informacjapubliczna.org.pl and on the websites of our partners;
  • presenting the results of monitoring actions;
  • presence in the  media.

While organizing the Right to Know Week we cooperate with the organizations from different cities. During the last four years we enforced relations with over 15 organizations. Thanks to them we were present in 20 cities: Bydgoszcz, Gdansk, Katowice, Klodzko, Cracow, Krosno, Leszno, Lublin, Lodz, Morag, Oswiecim, Poznan, Radom, Skarzysko-Kamienna, Slupsk, Szczecin, Szklarska Poreba, Torun, Zielona Gora and Warsaw.

We also cooperated with the media during the Right to Know Week. In 2009 with Wiadomosci24, in 2010 with local and  regional radio stations: Radio Gdansk, Radiofonia from Cracow, Radio Lublin, Radio Lodz, Radio Mercury from Wielkopolska. Every year we have been supported by the local civic newspaper Szklarska Poreba Voice

FOIAdvocates LogoThe International Right to Know Day that inspired organizing the Right to Know Week was established by the Freedom of Information Advocates Network associating a few hundred organizations from all continents. Those organizations, just like us, focus all their efforts on this day to show the importance of the right to know for each of us.
